Escher String Quartet, ensemble

Formed in 2005, the Escher String Quartet has attracted the attention of numerous artists who immediately admired the young ensemble for their individual sound, inspired artistic decisions, and unique cohesiveness. Within months of its inception, the Escher was invited by both Pinchas Zukerman and Itzhak Perlman to be the quartet-in-residence at each artist\\\'s summer festival: The National Arts Centre in Canada and The Perlman Chamber Music Program on Shelter Island, NY. The following winter, the Escher Quartet made its Kennedy Center debut, representing the Manhattan School of Music for the Conservatory Project.

In only two years, the group has established itself with a reputation as a world-class string quartet. Debuts are planned for La Jolla SummerFest, Music at St. Albans, Music @ Menlo, Ravinia, Ventura, the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festivals, and the Louvre. In 2006, the Escher was selected for the prestigious Chamber Music Society Two residency from the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. In 2007, the Escher String Quartet join the faculty of Stony Brook University as Adjunct Professors in a unique relationship with the world-renowned Emerson String Quartet. Most recently, the Escher joined guitar luminary Pepe Romero for a New Year\\\'s Eve performance at the 92nd Street Y and pianist Wu Han at the Greenwich Library Concert Series. Tonic, an eclectic club in New York\\\'s Lower East Side, presented the Escher in a joint concert with pop-folk singer-songwriter Luke Temple, with whom the Quartet will perform a second time this Spring at Union Hall in Brooklyn.

The Escher String Quartet is comprised of violinists Adam Barnett-Hart and Wu Jie, both students of Pinchas Zukerman at the Manhattan School of Music, violist Pierre Lapointe, who studied with Emerson Quartet violist Lawrence Dutton at the Manhattan School of Music and cellist Andrew Janss, who studied with David Geber at the Manhattan School.
