Sirkka Lampimaki graduated as a Master of Music from the Sibelius Academy under Professor Seppo Ruohonen in 2004. Her debut concert in 2005 with the pianist Ilmo Ranta received a glowing reception. Ms. Lampimaki has undertaken further studies in master classes with such singers as Renata Scotto, Edita Gruberova, Elisabeth Schwartzkopf, Francois Le Roux and Tom Krause.
In addition to appearing on Finnish opera stages, Ms. Lampimaki has also made appearances at the operas in Zurich and Bern. She has received praise for her Mozart roles including the title role in Zaide, Blonde and Konstanze in the opera Abduction from the Seraglio, the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute and as Bastienne in the opera Bastien and Bastienne. Ms. Lampimaki's other roles have included, for example, Donna Elvira in G.Gazzaniga's opera Don Giovanni, Waldvogel in Wagner's Siegfried and as a Flowermaiden in Parsifal, as well as the Voice of the Falcon in R Strauss' opera Die Frau ohne Schatten, Adele in J Strauss' Die Fledermaus, Galathee Suppe in the operetta The Beautiful Galatea and the title role in Janacek's opera The Cunning Vixen.
Sirkka Lampimaki made her debut at the Savonlinna Opera Festival in the summer of 2006 as Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen and audiences was able to see her in the same role last summer, too. She has also performed with the Finnish National Opera in spring 2007 as the First Maid of Honour in Pacius' The Hunt of King Charles. In the autumn of 2007, Sirkka Lampimaki made her debut with the Estonian National Opera in Verdi's Rigoletto in the role of Gilda. In the spring of 2008 she will be heard again as the Queen of the Night, when the Magic Flute returns to the Finnish National Opera's programme. Season 2008 - 2009 Lampimaki will debut in two new roles: as annchen in Weber's Freischutz at the Finnish National Opera and as Violetta Valery in Verdi's La Traviata in Keski-Suomen Alueooppera in Jyvaskyla, Finland.
Sirkka Lampimaki is not only familiar to opera audiences, but in a short space of time has also achieved popularity as a concert soloist. Her extensive lied and church music repertoire took her in spring 2007 to performances in St Petersburg. In Finland, she has performed with the Turku Symphony Orchestra as the soloist in Poulenc's Stabat Mater.
In 1999, Sirkka Lampimaki won the Kangasniemi Singing Completion, and in 2004 received the third prize in the Lappeenranta Singing Competition as well as second prize in the Timo Mustakallio Singing Competition. She is currently preparing for a Licentiate degree in the Arts Programme at the DocMus unit of the Sibelius Academy.
