Chamber Music Society Discography
The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center is proud to announce the second release from its exclusive in-house recording label, CMS Studio Recordings. The CD features two monumental works from early twentieth century England: William Walton’s Piano Quartet in D minor, and Edward Elgar’s Piano Quintet in A minor, Op. 84. The performers are pianist Wu Han, violinists Ani Kavafian and Arnaud Sussmann, violist Paul Neubauer, and cellist Fred Sherry. Grammy-award winning recording engineer Da-Hong Seetoo oversaw the editing and production of the CD.
The new recording coincides with the Chamber Music Society’s November tour to six cities in Southern California and Canada. The tour’s all-English repertoire includes the Elgar and Walton works, performed by the same musicians featured on the CMS Studio Recordings release, along with music by John Ireland and Ralph Vaughan Williams. A later tour of English repertoire, including again the Walton and Elgar works, is scheduled for March 2008, and includes cities in New York, Iowa, Kentucky, and Ohio.
