CMS Tours Nation- and World-wide

For the 2007-08 season, CMS is moving the show across the street to the New York Society for Ethical Culture. But taking its show on the road is not a new development for our intrepid musicians: they’ve toured for years, presenting CMS concerts for audiences nationwide – and even worldwide – for years!

In addition to mini-series at Fairfield University, Drew University, and the Gardner Museum in Boston, CMS musicians have performed in major performing arts centers and festivals, including Los Angeles, Washington DC, and Aspen. But more importantly, CMS has also played in smaller cities and venues, such as Sedona, AZ, Sewanee, TN, and Moscow, ID, creating chamber music fans wherever we go. And across the venues, the response to the concerts presented by the CMS musicians is always the same… “Excellent!” “Stunning!” “Exceeded our expectations!”

So it is with great excitement that we announce an increased focus on touring:

  • CMS is now represented by the prestigious artist management agency ICM Artists. If you’re interested in talking with ICM to discuss booking CMS, contact ICM by email or at 212-556-6856.
  • We’re delighted to announce that we will anchor a brand new chamber music festival in a short residency in Danville, Kentucky. The Chamber Music Festival of the Bluegrass kicks off on Memorial Day Weekend, when violinists Ida Kavafian and Joseph Silverstein, violist Paul Neubauer, cellist David Finckel, double bassist DaXun Zhang, and pianists Andre-Michel Schub and Wu Han bring world-class chamber music to the rolling hills of Kentucky’s bluegrass region. The Chamber Music Festival of the Bluegrass is produced by Centre College’s Norton Center for the Arts in cooperation with Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill.
  • An even more exotic locale awaits the CMS Artists when they journey to Taiwan over the Thanksgiving weekend this fall to help celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the National Concert Hall in Taipei. Over the course of three days, pianist Wu Han, violinists Ani and Ida Kavafian, violist Paul Neubauer, cellist David Finckel, and clarinetist Anthony McGill will play concerts, give master classes, and hold press events in several locations.
  • The fall tour to Taiwan is only one stop, albeit the farthest flung, on a season-long itinerary of touring destinations. CMS artists will visit Canada and California in November, and next spring, will pay calls in Louisiana, Indiana, Colorado, and Arizona.

We’ll hope for postcards!
