The Rose Studio Concerts of CMS are usually sold out, and hearing one live is a listening experience of supreme pleasure. Now, you can hear the final concert of the 2006-07 Rose season through the newest download from DG Concerts from Deutsche Grammophon.

On March 15th, 2007, the world class musicians of CMS gathered for an intimate evening of chamber music by Bela Bartok and Antonin Dvorak. The flawless performances were played to a sold-out crowd in the Daniel and Joanna S. Rose Studio high above Lincoln Center and the evening had all of the elements of a classically brilliant chamber music concert, except for one thing. As the musicians – all elegantly attired in concert dress – rose to bow and walk off the stage, their feet gave away the one less-than-typical aspect of the concert. Clad in stockings or bare feet, the musicians had foregone their shoes to reduce any noise from walking across the stage because this concert was being recorded for release just weeks later. This concert, featuring Contrasts for Violin, Clarinet, and Piano and Dvorak’s Piano Quintet in A major Op. 81, is now available digitally as the third recording from The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in its series of live recordings.
