Announcing CMS Studio Recordings

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center is proud to announce the launch of its first ever in-house recording label, CMS Studio Recordings. The debut CD from the label features three gems of the chamber music repertoire: Beethoven’s Piano Quartet in E-flat major, and two works by Dvořák, the Terzetto in C major for Two Violins and Viola, Op. 74, and the Piano Quartet in E-flat major, Op. 87. The performers are pianist Wu Han, violinists Erin Keefe and Arnaud Sussmann, violist Beth Guterman, and cellist David Finckel.

The CD was recorded at the Concert Hall of Drew University, Dorothy Young Center for the Arts, Drew University, Madison, New Jersey.

The next release will occur in November, featuring music by William Walton and Edward Elgar which anchored last season’s Winter Festival: An English Musical Renaissance, 1900-1930.

The mission of CMS Studio Recordings is to capture selected Chamber Music Society performances under optimal recording conditions using the latest audiophile technology, offering recordings of the highest possible quality. The musicians’ full participation in the recording process ensures performances that faithfully represent their artistic interpretations. Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han, speaking of the new label, said, “We are so proud and excited to be a part of the creation of a new recording label, faithfully documenting and capturing the chamber music repertoire performed at its absolute best. These recordings will become an integral part of CMS history and will allow chamber music lovers everywhere to experience this music in recordings of unsurpassed quality.”

Grammy-award winning recording engineer Da-Hong Seetoo, producer for CMS Studio Recordings as well as CMS’s Digital DG Concerts from Deutsche Grammophon, engineered and produced the CD.

The CD was unveiled at CMS’ gala Opening Night concert on September 19. During intermission, artists Wu Han, David Finckel, Arnaud Sussmann, and Erin Keefe signed CDs for guests.
