CMS' 2008-09 Season Ready to Open

Tickets are on sale now for all concerts in the 2008-09 season, which kicks off next week with a festive Opening Night concert on Thursday, September 25 at 7:30. Hear four octets—including Schubert’s joyful and melodic Octet in F major for Winds and Strings—in this program which sets the perfect tone for a season that is diverse as well as celebratory. Arguably the culminating moment of the season is our long-anticipated return to Alice Tully Hall on February 24, 2009 in Coming Home.

Throughout the season, musical voices emerge which are timeless… wistful… provocative… celebratory… revolutionary—all of which are sure to entertain and inspire listeners. A roster of artists that includes seasoned and beloved performers, as well as fresh and vigorous emerging talents, guarantees performances that are unrivaled in the city for their excellence and commitment. Lectures, master classes, family events, and more offer experiences which take your listening to a new level.

Our use of varying media takes on new life at CMS this season. Watch for a stunning video of last season’s jaw-dropping performance of Rachmaninov’s Suite No. 2 for Two Pianos by Inon Barnatan and Gilles Vonsattel, even as we continue our streamed videos of past lectures and master classes in EdWeb. We release the third of our CMS Studio Recordings at the end of the month, as well as three new digital downloads through our DG Concerts Live partnership. Our national radio show continues, taking the lure of chamber music to listeners in far-flung places, and AudioNotes bring more information about your concerts right into your living room.

The best way to make sure YOU keep up to date about the incredible wealth of chamber music opportunities this season is to subscribe, and to make sure you’re signed up for our email newsletters. Call 212-875-5788 for more information, or explore our site for complete information.
