The reopening of Alice Tully Hall – where we’ve shared countless wonderful musical experiences over the last 40 years – is just weeks away, signaled by the official reopening of its box office on January 23. In a festive event, Tony award-winning star of South Pacific/American Songbook artist Paulo Szot and WABC Anchor Sade Baderinwa ceremonially sold the first tickets to lucky Suzanne Davis, who took her first-in-line place at 8:45 AM. Ms. Davis bought three pairs of tickets, including one pair to the only family event in the opening weeks, CMS’ Meet the Music! concert on March 8.
The new Alice Tully Hall was given a rave review in a recent New Yorker. Among other accolades, architecture critic Paul Goldberger calls out the building’s spectacular facade and lobby, noting that “it finally has an entrance that you notice.” He also praises the Starr Theater in Alice Tully Hall, saying that the interior components work together to make the hall “feel warmer and more intimate.” Read the entire review here.
