CMS Two Artists Win Four of Five Avery Fisher Career Grants

Four of the five winners of the 2009 Avery Fisher Career Grants are CMS Two affiliates: current CMS Two members pianist Inon Barnatan and violinist Arnaud Sussmann; former member clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein; and incoming member pianist Alessio Bax. The winners were announced on April 23 in the Kaplan Penthouse. The festivities included performances by the artists, with the exception of Inon, who had a previous commitment in Israel. The fifth winner was Augustin Hadelich, violinist.

The Avery Fisher Awards program was taped for broadcast and will air Monday, May 4, from 8-9pm on WQXR-FM (96.3).

The Avery Fisher Career Grant is designed to give professional assistance and recognition to talented instrumentalists as well as chamber ensembles. The award stipend is $25,000. This amount is made available to each recipient, to be used for specific needs in furthering a career.
