CMS Returns to Korea, Spring 2010

This season, CMS announced a new residency initiative, “Chamber Music Immersions,” a series of intensive training workshops for highly gifted young musicians from Korea and Taiwan. The objective of these programs is to enhance the quality of chamber music performance in these countries, and to increase awareness of chamber music as a powerfully communicative art form. The first two residencies, which included training programs, along with concerts by the students and CMS artists, met with enormous success. Now, CMS returns to Seoul, Korea this April. Four musicians representing CMS, pianist and CMS Co-Artistic Director Wu Han, violinist Ani Kavafian, violist Paul Neubauer, and cellist Andrés Díaz, will participate in the training sessions with 29 talented young musicians ages 11-17. The April 6-11 residency will culminate with student concerts, and a concert by the CMS artists in Seoul’s spectacular LG Arts Center.

The enthusiasm of everyone involved is evident in these photos from the August 2009 “Chamber Music Immersions” program in and around Seoul.
