New CMS Two Resident Quartets Announced

2010-2011 Stoeger Prize awarded to Brett Dean
The Chamber Music Society’s 2010-2011 Elise L. Stoeger Prize has been awarded to Australian composer Brett Dean. The Stoeger Prize is a $25,000 cash award, and the largest prize devoted to chamber music composition. It is given every two years in recognition of significant contributions to the field.

David Finckel and Wu Han: Musicians of the Year
In an unprecedented move, Musical America has selected not one but two Musicians of the Year for 2012: David Finckel and Wu Han. He is a cellist, she a pianist, and together they are the artistic directors of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, among other organizations. The Musician(s) of the Year Award, honoring excellence and achievement in the arts, are being announced in conjunction with the release of the 2012 International Directory of the Performing Arts.

CMS Artist Erin Keefe named concertmaster of Minnesota Orchestra
The Minnesota Orchestra and Music Director Osmo Vänskä announced today the appointment of American violinist Erin Keefe as concertmaster. Keefe, who performs regularly with CMS, will officially begin as concertmaster at the Orchestra’s season opening concerts September 29 to October 1.

The CMS radio series begins Oct. 10 at 10 PM on WQXR
The new season of the CMS national radio series, 26 one-hour programs featuring performances from the 2010-2011 season, begins local broadcast on WQXR-FM (93.9 or on-line: www.wqxr.org) on Monday, October 10, at 10pm.
