What is the purpose of the Student Advisory Committee?

Classical music is increasingly regarded as a rarefied form, only appealing to the old. It is the goal of the committee to change this perception and get younger people excited about chamber music. By attracting a younger and broader audience, our aim is to keep chamber music alive and well for generations to come.

The Student Advisory Committee gives students priceless insight into the workings of a non-profit organization by involving them in multiple aspects of an organization's operation. Committee members sit around the conference table with their peers and the CMS staff members to discuss and present ideas and opinions, devise marketing plans, design brochures, and research programming ideas that cater to younger audiences. But the best part is that students experience the rewards of seeing the impact of their efforts on others at the chamber music concerts.
