'Hearts at Peace, Under an English Heaven' -Rupert Brooke

There is a wealth of string quartet music written by English composers, and this program includes some of the very best, ranging from the lush romantic works of Elgar to the modernist movements by Birtwistle. Frank Bridge was tutor to Britten, teaching him privately from the age of fourteen.
