Support the Chamber Music Society

Many people are surprised to learn that revenue from ticket sales covers only a part of the Chamber Music Society’s annual operating expenses. But the costs of producing  nearly 50 concerts a year in New York City at the world’s largest performing arts complex—artists’ fees, equipment rentals, instrument upkeep, and concert hall labor, to name only a few—are considerable, and growing annually. This is why your support makes such a difference in closing the gap between our ticket revenue and total expenses.

Over and above its role on the concert stage, it is CMS’s mission to bring the art of chamber music to listeners of all ages and backgrounds, regardless of their ability to pay. It is in this respect that charitable contributions from individuals and institutions have the greatest impact. By absorbing the majority of costs for its various educational and concert offerings, CMS keeps ticket prices affordable and ensures that no listener is denied the experience of hearing a world-class concert program for lack of means.

Your support will specifically help CMS present:

  • Entertaining and illuminating programs to introduce the world of chamber music to over 18,000 children, students, families, and adults annually;
  • Chamber Music Society Two, the highly competitive professional development residency for the world’s finest young chamber musicians;
  • New- and contemporary-music series for emerging composers;
  • Radio broadcasts heard around the country and internationally on NPR and over 200 affiliate stations;
  • National and international touring programs;
  • Free and discounted ticket programs for conservatory students and seniors; and, of course,
  • Concerts, lectures, and master classes in Alice Tully Hall, the Daniel and Joanna S. Rose Rehearsal Studio, and across the nation on tour.

It is only with your help that CMS can continue drawing more people to chamber music than any other organization if its kind. Please visit the other pages in this section to learn which giving program best meets your giving ability and interests.
