Each year, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center plans several distinctive events designed to support CMS and encourage involvement in the CMS community. Each combines exceptional entertainment with an opportunity to be even closer to this most intimate music.
On Wednesday, February 13th, OPUS presented Lovestruck, Inspired by Saint Valentine – an intimate affair of music and art benefiting the music education programs at CMS. These award-winning initiatives reach school students in all five boroughs of Manhattan, including schools where there is no regular music instruction.
Caio Fonseca hosted the evening in his stunning East Village studio where guests enjoyed an exhibition of his evocative paintings as well as musical performances by CMS Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han and CMS Two artists Inon Barnatan, Erin Keefe and Arnaud Sussmann. The entrance to the art studio set the scene for this romantic evening with candlelight and an archway of luxurious red roses. Guests enjoyed sensual cocktails, including the Smoking Love Potion Pomegranate martini and the Chocolate Addiction martini with a Chocolate Cigarette. Culinary indulgences included an oyster bar and an extravagant La Maison du Chocolat station. All guests were presented with red roses affixed with Rainer Maria Rilke’s “Bowl of Roses” poem and gift bags at the end of the night.
The event was spearheaded by OPUS members Lisa and Saar Banin, Daniel and Melissa Berger, Lise and Michael Evans, Justin Hays Green and Jenny Slayton, Karen and Dennis Mehiel and Bill and Marie Samuels.
