Part V
Deepening Engagement, Now and in the Future
Education for listeners of all ages and experience
Chamber music is a multi-dimensional art form, comprising dialogues, shifting roles, and both unity and diversity in pursuit of musical unanimity. Its richness and complexity invite exploration, and chamber music’s vast landscape is best experienced in the company of expert guides. CMS’s commitment to illuminating its art dates to the organization’s earliest days. As in all the arts, skills of both performing and listening to music are transferred between generations by individuals and institutions, ensuring music a legion of inspired and empowered advocates, practitioners, and consumers in the future.
Today, CMS’s educational activities reach thousands of students and adults annually. From the Inside Chamber Music lectures (highly detailed explorations of single works), to Meet the Music! (for families with children of all ages), CMS covers a broad audience spectrum. All of CMS’s educational programs utilize the art of chamber music as a vehicle for revealing the beauty and joy of classical music, featuring live performances by the CMS roster of artists.
