A native New Yorker, Benjamin T. Rossen is a pianist, composer and French hornist who started piano at age four. He studies with Jeffrey Cohen at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division (MSM), where he is the recipient of the Rosetta Goodkind Scholarship. Mr. Rossen has won first prize in piano competitions held by Steinway & Sons, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS), Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), New York Piano Festival & Competition and the Kaufman Music Center International Youth Piano Competition. In addition, he is a 2018 National Young Arts Foundation Finalist-Winner and a quarterfinalist at the 2019 Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition & Festival. Mr. Rossen has performed as piano soloist with the New York Concerti Sinfonietta and the MSM Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras. An avid chamber musician, he is an alumnus of the Music@Menlo Chamber Music Festival and Institute as a Koret Young Performer and of Festival MusicAlps. A burgeoning composer, Mr. Rossen is a National Winner of the MTNA Composition Competition. Furthermore, he was selected to perform his original compositions at the CMS Young Musicians Concert and the NYSSMA Young Composer Honors Concert. He also had his film score premiered at the All-American High School Film Festival. Mr. Rossen is the editor-in-chief of his high school’s literary magazine and the founder of the Music Creators Society, an extracurricular club where he facilitates collaboration between artists, composers, and writers to produce interdisciplinary works.
