Eric Wen
Violin

Violnist and Juilliard faculty member Eric Wen was born in New York City. He has published scholarly articles in numerous academic journals and books and given guest lectures at universities and conferences throughout North America, Europe, and Israel. He is former editor of The Strad and The Musical Times. He edits violin music for Carl Fischer Music and has produced recordings by Gil Shaham, Oscar Shumsky, Arnold Steinhardt, Maxim Vengerov, Pinchas Zukerman, and the Guarneri String Quartet. He has been a faculty member at the Curtis Institute of Music since 1999 and at Mannes College the New School for Music since 2008. Wen received his bachelor's degree from Columbia University and his master's degree from Yale University. He received a fellowship award from Yale University. He studied violin with Paul Zukofsky and Sally Thomas and studied music theory with Carl Schachter. Wen has been a Juilliard College Division faculty member since 2013 and was a Juilliard Pre-College faculty member from 2011-2016. He served as chair of the Pre-College Theory Department from 2011-2016.
