CMS Celebrates 50 Years with Exciting New Initiatives

CMS kicked off the 50th anniversary season on October 15 with a broadcast of the season's opening night concert, Dvořák's American Quintet, on medici.tv. The global leader in classical music video streaming, medici.tv will also provide a collection of archival works to the public for free. CMS concerts, lectures, and master classes are available now for on-demand streaming on the medici.tv website.

WNET's ALL ARTS

On October 20, the Chamber Music Society launched In Concert with CMS, a new monthly program featuring select past performances on WNET's ALL ARTS, the broadcast channel, streaming platform, and website dedicated to arts and culture 24/7. In Concert with CMS will be broadcast weekly on Sundays at 9am, 2pm, and 7pm, and repeated the following Friday at 7am, 12pm, and 5pm. Programming is available to watch on the ALL ARTS website; Facebook; Twitter; Instagram; streaming apps on iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV; and broadcast and cable channels in the greater New York area.

Radio Television Hong Kong

Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) Radio 4 will broadcast 14 CMS radio episodes on its Live on 4 program. Episodes will air every Wednesday at 8 PM Hong Kong time (8 AM EST, 7 AM EST beginning Nov 6) with a repeat on every following Monday at 2 PM Hong Kong time (2 AM EST, 1 AM EST beginning Nov 11). The series kicked off with a cover feature article in the October 2019 issue of RTHK Radio 4’s Fine Music Magazine, distributed throughout Southern China. The article included an interview with Co-Artistic Director Wu Han and details of the radio broadcasts, which can be read here.

CMS at 50 Library Exhibition

Open now until March 7, 2020 at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, this exhibition highlights the rich and diverse work of CMS: the dedicated efforts of the first-class musicians, artistic administrators, tireless staff, visionary board members, world- class artists, generous donors, and enthusiastic audience that comprise the Chamber Music Society family. Most importantly, the Chamber Music Society at 50 shines a spotlight on the vast and wonderful world of chamber music with an in-depth look at the history of the genre from 1650 to today. The Phenomenal 50 Podcast

The Phenomenal 50 is a series of podcasts spotlighting some of the finest CMS concerts from the past 50 years. Each installment is introduced by Artistic Director David Finckel, with a new edition each Monday throughout the anniversary season. The podcasts will be available on the CMS website, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and Google Podcasts.
