CMS Radio Series to Debut in China

The Chamber Music Society is pleased to announce that programs from its annual radio series will begin broadcasting in December 2015 on China’s premier classical radio station, Shanghai Classical 94.7, which reaches an estimated 1.5 million listeners in the greater Shanghai area. Marking a collaboration between the WFMT Radio Network and Shanghai Classical 94.7, the CMS programs, showcased in a two-hour time slot, will be part of year-long weekly broadcasts of a program titled “New York Sounds,” that will also feature performances from Carnegie Hall and the New York Philharmonic.

CMS Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han commented:

As the Chamber Music Society has only recently had the exciting first opportunity to bring its finest programming and artists to China, we could not be more thrilled by this new relationship, which will keep our musicians and repertoire in the minds and ears of the most fertile audience for chamber music in the world. The great repertoire of classical music, so loved and respected by Chinese listeners, can now grow to include the very open, intimate and communicative art of chamber music, building further strong bridges between our peoples and their cultures. Indeed, when we return to China this season, we will no doubt be welcomed by many new friends, thanks to this wonderful partnership.
