CMS To Expand Presence in Georgia

The Chamber Music Society is pleased to announce that its annual residency at the University of Georgia's Performing Arts Center in Athens, Georgia, will expand significantly in the 2015-2016 season from two concerts to eight, establishing the greatest presence in one location for CMS outside of New York City. The programming has been specially designed to offer both the student and community audience an unparalleled opportunity to experience the history of music as it unfolds in chronological order, beginning with treasures of the Baroque, and culminating in masterpieces of the 20th century. This unique series will be performed by many of the acclaimed musicians on the CMS roster, as well as guests. The opening program, a recital on October 4 by CMS Artistic Directors cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han, sets the tone for the series with a mini-journey through musical eras – from Bach to Britten. Performances take place in the beautiful and acoustically ideal Hugh Hodgson Concert Hall.
