The estimable Hungarian composer, pianist, and conductor Ernő Dohnányi composed electrifying, yet lyrical music that gained him international popularity. Among his admirers was the famously tough critic Brahms, whose two immortal trios for clarinet and horn serve to introduce Dohnányi as “The Hungarian Brahms.”

  • Brahms Trio in A minor for Clarinet, Cello, and Piano, Op. 114 (1891)
  • Brahms Trio in E-flat major for Horn, Violin, and Piano, Op. 40 (1865)
  • Dohnányi Sextet in C major for Clarinet, Horn, Violin, Viola, Cello, and Piano, Op. 37 (1935)
