Beethoven’s youthful, effervescent string trio opens a program of chamber music classics. For Mendelssohn’s virtuosic piano quartet, the strings are joined by the superb pianist Gloria Chien, who switches to romantic mode in the second half for a mature and majestic piano trio by Brahms. The cast of musicians includes the riveting violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky, the commanding cellist Clive Greensmith, and the incomparable violist Paul Neubauer.
