Opus Mediterraneo

August 14 – 24, 2012

The Chamber Music Society, for the third consecutive year, offered a Mediterranean cruise with CMS artists David Finckel, Wu Han, Paul Neubauer and Alexander Sitkovetsky. Four chamber music concerts were held throughout the voyage in the Teatro Communal of Atri, Italy, a small replica of La Scala; the Cathedral of Santa Anastasia in Santa Severina Italy; the San Martin Church in Erice, Sicily; and one concert aboard ship.

CMS Patrons and their friends and families were joined by members of the Stanford University Alumni association, Columbia Alumni Travel Study Program, Smithsonian Journeys, and National Trust for Historic Preservation, aboard the luxurious small ship Corinthian II. Owned and operated by Travel Dynamics International, well known for its high-caliber educational programs, this customized voyage included lectures by Professor James J. Sheehan of Stanford and Professor Anne-Marie Bouché of Florida Gulf Coast University.
