Announcing the 2025-2026 Season

Welcome to CMS's 2025–2026 season, THE MAGNIFICENT VIOLIN, honoring the violin and all that it has contributed to our art. Our Winter Festival: Violin Celebration presents the history of the violin, from Bach to the present day, concluding with a concert honoring the beloved Fritz Kreisler. Some of this season's most anticipated programs include: a blockbuster showcase for the famous composer friends and mutual admirers Brahms and Dvořák; the six-work, six-performer Century of Winds; a colorful Liszt and Bartók concert filled with electrifying music from Hungary; and Invitation to the Dance, with irresistible dance music from Mozart to Chopin and beyond.

“It’s nearly impossible to overstate the importance of the violin in chamber music over the past five centuries,” said CMS Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han. “Our Magnificent Violin season provides a showcase for CMS’s deep roster of fantastic violinists, many of whom are playing on legendary instruments. Those less familiar with the violin will discover its signature singing tone, while violin veterans can deepen their knowledge through initiatives like our violin lecture series. Everyone will surely walk away with a newfound appreciation for the versatility of the violin.”
