This program celebrates the vibrant colors and diverse textures of chamber music, featuring works that span from Classical elegance to 20th-century charm. Beethoven’s Sonata for Horn and Piano in F major, Op. 17, brims with brilliance and bold lyricism, showcasing the horn’s heroic voice alongside the piano’s nimble virtuosity. Martinu’s Duo No. 1, “Three Madrigals,” for violin and viola, is a lively and expressive work inspired by the counterpoint of the Baroque era, infused with the composer’s signature Czech folk influences. Francaix’s Trio for Violin, Viola, and Cello dazzles with wit, energy, and sparkling French elegance. The program concludes with Zdeněk Fibich’s Quintet in D major, Op. 42, a richly expressive work by the 19th-century Czech composer that blends warm lyricism with vibrant instrumental interplay, bringing the evening to a stirring and dynamic close.
