Kodály: Serenade for Two Violins and Viola, Op. 12

SOMETHING TO KNOW:
By the time Kodály composed this serenade, he’d been studying and collecting Hungarian folk songs for 14 years.

SOMETHING TO LISTEN FOR:
The second movement ends with a passionate, improvisatory solo for the first violin.
