Messiaen: Visions de l’Amen for Two Pianos

SOMETHING TO KNOW:

Written in 1943 in occupied France, Visions de l’Amen is seven ecstatic meditations on Bible verses from Genesis to Revelation.

SOMETHING TO LISTEN FOR:

Messiaen called the main theme the theme of creation. It begins in the Amen of Creation in ‘grand and solemn chords’ and ends in the Amen of the Consummation in a ‘long chorale of glory.’

Recorded live in the Daniel and Joanna S. Rose Studio on November 21, 2019.
Video directed by Tristan Cook.
