Celebrating the rich musical possibilities of the piano trio, this program begins with an exploration of the clarinet’s range in two trios: one by Beethoven including jovial variations on a popular tune, and four romantic miniatures by Bruch.

Mendelssohn’s second piano trio welcomes the traditional violin to conclude the program with one of the composer’s most inspired and emotional works. Nestled between the trios are the ever-popular Hungarian Dances by Brahms for piano 4-hands, inspired by the composer’s life-long love of folk music.
