This program brings together three landmark works, each a defining moment in its composer’s journey. Mozart's mournful Violin Sonata in E minor, composed when his mother was on her deathbed, evokes his emotional journey during this difficult period. Shostakovich’s Piano Trio No. 2, written during World War II and at the midpoint of his life, stands at the center of the piano trio repertoire—an intense and haunting testament to the human spirit. Closing the program, Schubert’s final trio, completed near the end of his short life, is a work of sweeping grandeur and profound beauty. These chamber music powerhouses illuminate a journey of passion, perseverance, and profound expression.
