On Tuesday, October 19, 2021, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center celebrated the opening of its 52nd season in New York, after 19 months away from Alice Tully Hall due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The extraordinary evening included a dinner for members of the Board, Global Council, major donors, and special guests, concert, and a post-concert reception with the Artists.

The evening showcased the virtuosity of CMS artists in works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, and Schubert, as well as in a rarely heard gem by Johann Nepomuk Hummel.

This performance featured the first Alice Tully Hall CMS performance for Bowers Program violinist Richard Lin. Richard shared his excitement in a note in the program:

In 2019, Wu Han and David Finckel brought several CMS artists to my homeland Taiwan and gave two spectacular performances. I had never been more emotionally touched by any live chamber music concert before. It was a life changing experience for me and so it was extra meaningful when I was later accepted into The Bowers Program, allowing me to give my debut with CMS.

The performance also featured pianists Wu Han, and Wu Qian, violinist Arnaud Sussmann performing on violin and viola, violist Matthew Lipman, cellist Nicholas Canellakis, and bassist Blake Hinson.
