Join our artistic directors, David Finckel and Wu Han, and their colleagues for an intimate sojurn in Madrid and Barcelona, filled with great music, food, and the conviviality for which our trips are renowned.
Revel in the beauty and culture of Spain with David Finckel, Wu Han, and CMS artists on a tour to the stately capital of Madrid and exciting Barcelona, with an extension to the gorgeous Mediterranean island of Mallorca. This highly curated trip will feature three concerts in extraordinary venues, including the exquisite Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid, the soaring Music Room designed by Anton Gaudi in the 1880’s for a private room, and the Circolo Ecuestre, one of the most exclusive private clubs in Barcelona. We will visit some of Spain’s incomparable museums: the Prado, privately before public admission; the Reina Sofia, home of Guernica, arguably the most famous painting of the 20th century; and those dedicated to the great Spanish artists, Picasso and Mirò. Modernista Barcelona, typified by the stunning architecture of Antoni Gaudì, will surround us. Excursions take you to the ancient town of Segovia, via Philip II’s imposing palace, El Escorial, as well as the former home of the great cellist Pablo Casals. And you will have a special evening of fiery flamenco at the most famous tablao in the world.
On Mallorca, you will visit pretty villages overlooking the sea, and lonely monasteries in the mountains; hear local artists performing songs and dances of the Mediterranean, and music by Chopin in the very cell in which he lived; and enjoy fine local dining.
Deluxe five-star accommodations throughout: from the iconic, majestic Ritz Hotel in Madrid, to a charming boutique hotel in the heart of Barcelona built amid the city’s ancient Roman walls, to a luxury resort and spa on Mallorca, every room with a view of the sea. Astonishing art, delicious food and wine, and great music—Olé!
