Remembering George Crumb 1929-2022
We remember the eclectic and engaging composer George Crumb, who died February 2022 at the age of 92. CMS has been honored and privileged to have known him well, premiering severals works, first appearing in the 1979-80 season. He reshaped not only how we listen to music, but also how we look at it.
CMS salutes the contributions of Black Americans to classical music. The transformational effect on America’s history is realized in a curated list of works by Black composers that would not have been possible if it were not for the events of 1865.
