Playing Videos
How do I find a past performance?
- CMS now has over 1,000 videos from past Alice Tully Hall and Rose Studio performances. The best way to find a past performance is by using our Seach Tools on the Watch & Listen Page. Simply type in the piece you are looking for (ex: Bach Brandenburg Concertos) and a list of results will appear.
- If you’re feeling overwhelmed with all the video choices (we know, there are a lot!) try starting out with one of our Featured Playlists. Each uniquely curated playlist has a collection of videos, audio, and upcoming livestreams.
- To see all available media, click the View All Media button on the Watch & Listen Page. From here, you can narrow down your search by instrument type, year, type of performance, and ensemble size. This is a great way to discover some new works and browse our entire collection!
Why can't I find the specific performance I'm looking for?
While we have a large selection of works available, this does not reflect every performance from CMS. If a specific work you are looking for does not appear to be on the website, it could be that it did not receive approval by the artists to be published or there were technical difficulties during filming. Alice Tully Hall concert recordings go back to 2014, Rose events to 2011. Anything prior to that was not video recorded.
After each performance, we edit our footage so we can give you a polished performance to watch! These edits can take one to four weeks, so if you're looking for a recently performed program, bear with us as we get the final videos posted.
If a video is not playing, it could be due in part to the following:
- Your Internet connection may be too slow, especially if you do not have a broadband connection or you are doing something else on the Internet simultaneously.
- There may be temporary problems on the Internet somewhere between our servers and your computer.
- There may be a problem with your computer hardware or software.
- Ad blockers may be preventing you from viewing our content. You may need to whitelist chambermusicsociety.org and/or vimeo.com.
Watching a Livestream
How do I find an upcoming Livestream?
- A list of upcoming CMS livestreams can be found here.
- Once the livestream has begun, you will see an orange banner appear at the top of the CMS website. You can directly click that link to go to the event.
How do I find a past Livestream?
- After a livestream performance or event has concluded, it will remain on our website for the next 72 hours for your viewing pleasure. After that, it will be archived on the CMS website.
- Past CMS Inside Chamber Music Lectures, Pre-Concert Lectures, and Master Classes will be put up on our website one week after the event. Lectures are grouped by series. Master Classes are grouped by instrument type.
- Each work performed on livestreamed Concerts, Meet the Music! family concerts, and Recitals will be archived on our website, pending artist approval, within two to three weeks following the event.
Can I be notified of upcoming livestreams/video releases?
You absolutely can! Sign up for our Watch Live Email List here to get reminders before each scheduled livestream event, plus a monthly newsletter featuring new videos, audio programs, and more!
If a livestream event is not running smoothly, it could be due in part to the following:
- If a scheduled livestream is not playing, you may just be too early! The livestream will begin promptly at the event time dictated. Event times are always listed in Eastern Standard Time. A countdown will appear on the Livestream Event Page, and will automatically transition once the event has begun. If your page is stuck on loading, try refreshing.
- Your Internet connection may be too slow, especially if you do not have a broadband connection or you are doing something else on the Internet simultaneously.
